NWAA Relaunches Base to Base Ride Out for September 2026 with Headline Sponsor “Sorry Mate”

Published: 17th June 2026

The North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) has announced the relaunch of its popular Base to Base Ride Out for 2026, with the event now taking place on Sunday 20th September following the postponement of the original April date.

Bringing together motorcyclists from across the region, the charity ride offers participants the chance to enjoy stunning countryside routes, sweeping roads and spectacular views across the West Pennine Moors, while helping to fund NWAA’s lifesaving service, which receives no government or NHS funding.

The motorway-free route will once again take riders from Blackpool Airport (Hangar 3) to Barton Aerodrome in Manchester, connecting two of the charity’s operational bases and celebrating the vital work carried out by its crews across the North West.

The much-anticipated event is returning with the support of new headline sponsor, specialist solicitors Sorry Mate, who have joined forces with NWAA to help make the 2026 ride possible.

The Base to Base Ride Out also shines a spotlight on a unique partnership that supports NWAA’s blood-on-board service, enabling critical blood transfusions to be delivered at the scene of an incident. The service is supported by dedicated volunteers from North West Blood Bikes Lancs and Lakes and Greater Manchester Blood Bikes, who transport blood products and play an important role in helping save lives across the region.

Trish Fitzpatrick from North West Blood Bikes Lancs and Lakes said: “We are delighted to come together again for the 2026 ride. It is a fantastic way to strengthen partnerships while raising funds for lifesaving services across the North West.”

A large group of motorcyclists wearing high-visibility vests stand in a line with their bikes on a grassy field under a blue sky, with a North West Air Ambulance helicopter flying in the distance above them.

Russ Harrison from Greater Manchester Blood Bikes added: “We are proud to continue our partnership with NWAA and support such an important fundraising event.”

Registration opens from 9.30am, with riders setting off at 11am. Tickets are priced at £15 for general admission and £5 per pillion.

Steph Gibson, Events Coordinator at NWAA, said: “While we were disappointed to postpone the event earlier this year, we are thrilled to be bringing the Base to Base Ride Out back this September. The support of our riders, volunteers, partners and headline sponsor, Sorry Mate, will help us continue delivering critical care to patients across the region when every second counts.”

Open to riders of all abilities, whether they take part for the ride, the camaraderie or the cause, the Base to Base Ride Out promises an unforgettable day on the road while making a real difference to lives across the North West.
