NWAA and Arnold Plant Hire announce new philanthropic partnership

Published: 11th June 2026

The North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) and Stockport-based Arnold Plant Hire have announced a new philanthropic partnership to support lifesaving emergency care across the region.

To mark the partnership, representatives from Arnold Plant Hire, a specialist waste and recycling machinery hire business operating nationwide, visited the charity’s operational airbase in Barton. One of their JCB machines stood alongside an NWAA helicopter, creating a powerful symbol of two industries working together to support communities across the North West.

The partnership represents two organisations with strong regional roots joining forces to make a meaningful difference for local people.

Arnold Plant Hire has previously supported NWAA’s annual charity golf event at West Lancs Golf Club. After learning that the charity relies entirely on public donations to operate, the business chose to deepen its support through a new partnership that includes monthly donations, staff fundraising and ongoing involvement in events.

Demonstrating the enthusiasm behind the partnership, team members William and Isobel from Arnold Plant Hire recently completed the Liverpool Marathon wearing jointly branded running tops. Their efforts raised vital funds while helping to shine a spotlight on NWAA’s lifesaving work.

Philip Oldham, Managing Director at Arnold Plant Hire, said: “At Arnold Plant Hire, we are proud to support communities across the North West, where many of our people and customers live and work. Partnering with the NWAA allows us to give back in a meaningful way while staying true to the values that guide our business every day: safety, reliability and care.

“This partnership strengthens our social responsibility commitments and brings our team together around a shared purpose of helping to save lives across the region. We are honoured to stand alongside NWAA and support a charity that makes such an extraordinary difference.”

Staff from Arnold Plant Hire and the North West Air Ambulance Charity gather beside a branded JCB telehandler and air ambulance helicopter outside the charity’s base, celebrating their partnership. An Arnold Plant Hire JCB telehandler featuring North West Air Ambulance Charity branding stands next to one of the charity’s helicopters on the tarmac outside a hangar.

Rachel Donohoe, Corporate and Trust Manager at NWAA, said: “We are incredibly grateful for Arnold Plant Hire’s support. As a charity that receives no government or NHS funding, partnerships like this play a vital role in keeping our helicopters and critical care cars in the air and on the road.

“Support from organisations across our region helps ensure we remain ready to respond every day, bringing advanced pre-hospital care directly to patients when they need us most. This partnership shows the power of connecting like-minded businesses with lifesaving charity work and helps us reach even more people across the North West.”

NWAA serves more than eight million people across 5,500 square miles, from Carlisle down to Crewe. Operating three helicopters and four critical care cars, the charity brings advanced pre-hospital care directly to patients, giving them the best possible chance of survival when every second counts.

Arnold Plant Hire Ltd provides fully maintained waste specification machinery on both short and long-term hire agreements. Safety and reliability sit at the heart of the business – these are values that closely align with NWAA’s commitment to delivering critical care when it matters most.
