Town Mayor of Bollington announces partnership with local air ambulance charity

Published: 1st June 2026

Councillor Dickie Fletcher, Town Mayor of Bollington, Cheshire, has announced they are partnering with the North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) as part of the local lives partnership. It is a borough-wide effort to support lifesaving emergency care for local communities throughout Cheshire.

During their mayoral year, Councillor Fletcher will work in partnership with the North West Air Ambulance Charity to champion local lives, bringing together residents, schools and businesses to raise awareness and vital funds.

As part of this commitment, the Mayor will lead the Bollington Local Lives Partnership, a community-focused initiative designed to unite people behind a shared mission: helping to ensure advanced, hospital-level care can reach patients in their moment of greatest need.

The North West Air Ambulance Charity delivers enhanced pre-hospital care at the scene of the most serious incidents, serving a population of more than eight million people across the North West, from Carlisle to Crewe.

With three helicopters and four critical care cars, its crews operate 365 days a year, attending an average of 10 incidents each day.

The charity receives no government or NHS funding and relies entirely on public donations, needing to raise over £18 million each year to continue its lifesaving work.

The Mayor of Bollington, wearing a ceremonial chain of office over a navy suit and striped tie, poses for a portrait inside a civic building. Viewed from a distance, a yellow and blue North West Air Ambulance helicopter is landed in a secluded rural landscape. A stream curves through the foreground, while leafless trees and grassy banks frame the scene. Sunlight breaks through a lightly clouded sky, highlighting the remote location of the emergency response landing site.

Councillor Dickie Fletcher, Town Mayor of Bollington, said: “We are proud to support the North West Air Ambulance Charity during my year in office. The lifesaving care they provide makes a real difference to people and families across our borough. By bringing our community together through the Bollington Local Lives Partnership, we can help ensure this vital service continues to be there for anyone who may need it.”

Danny Daynes, Senior Regional Fundraiser for the North West Air Ambulance Charity said: “We are incredibly grateful to Councillor Fletcher for choosing to partner with us this year. With the support of the Mayor and the Bollington community, we can continue to bring advanced, lifesaving care directly to patients when every second counts. Partnerships like this play a vital role in helping us be there for people in their time of greatest need.”

The partnership will include a programme of fundraising and community activities taking place across Bollington throughout the mayoral year, offering opportunities for people of all ages to get involved and support the charity’s work.
