Race to the Base

The Race to the Base starts now!

Last year was our busiest ever, attending 3,862 missions and the demand only continues to rise.

Emergency calls are increasing, missions are increasing meaning the pressure on our service is increasing.

Now, we’re issuing a direct challenge to Community Clubs across the region.

How the race works

Throughout September, we are challenging clubs to go head-to-head in a mission critical race.

The race will start on 1st of September and ends on 30th September.

You’ll fundraise independently across the whole month and aiming to raise as much as you can. Did you know, on average, a mission costs £4,500?

Every club that registers will be in with a chance of winning a visit along with:

  • The club that fundraises the most
  • The club with the most creative fundraising idea

Ready to accept the challenge?

If your club is ready to:

  • Take on a challenge
  • Support a lifesaving charity
  • Help fund critical missions
  • Shout about your fundraising

Then it’s time to register!

What you’ll get

Every club that takes part will receive: a ‘Mission Funded’ certificate, thank you video from our crew and an impact update upon fundraising allocation.

The Race to the Base winners will receive:

  • An exclusive visit to one of our air ambulance bases (Barton or Blackpool)
  • A chance to see our helicopters*
  • Insight into the advanced pre-hospital care you’ve helped fund
  • A framed ‘Mission Funded’ certificate
  • A post on our social media channels

*We cannot guarantee they will be at the base at the time of your visit as we operate 365 days a year and are called out on average 12 times a day

Need some fundraising inspiration?

There are so many ways to fundraise, and you’re free to fundraise however you’d like.

If you need a little bit of inspiration, you could…

  • Host a coffee morning
  • Hold a car boot sale
  • Take on a sponsored challenge like a walk or cycle or sponsored silence
  • Collect at your local supermarket
  • Sing your way to the finish line with a concert
  • (If you really want to) Sit in a bathtub full of beans

For more ideas on how to fundraise, check out our fundraising ideas page or have a look at our fundraising resources to get started.

If you need any support or materials, feel free to get in touch with our fundraising team at fundraising@nwairambulance.org.uk
