M&S Bolton Middlebrook Team Raises Over £1,700 for NWAA

Published: 11th June 2025

Colleagues at M&S Middlebrook in Bolton have gone the extra mile to support the North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA). They raised an impressive £1,742 through a sponsored walk and additional in-store fundraising activities.

In March, 12 dedicated members of the store’s charity team tackled the 16km Derwent Water Circular walk, spending over five hours on the trail to raise money for the lifesaving charity.

Their efforts were part of a wider commitment by the store to support charities that matter deeply to their colleagues and community.

Suzanne Liptrott, from M&S Bolton Middlebrook, said of the fundraising: “As a store, we like to support a charity that is close to our hearts and the North West Air Ambulance Charity is one of those charities. Some colleagues have had family and friends who have needed NWAA in the past, so we wanted to give back, not only individually but as a store.”

The team’s fundraising didn’t stop at the Derwent Walk. From charity raffles to bag packing with the help of the NWAA team, the store has been buzzing with activity to drive donations.

Sophie Owen, also from M&S Middlebrook and a key member of the charity team, added: “I’m part of the charity team here at M&S Middlebrook, and every year we help a different charity.

“This year we chose NWAA because of a personal connection with one of the staff members in-store, who needed the medical care of the crew from NWAA. It's a great charity to support and we wanted to raise as much as possible.”

The funds raised by the M&S Middlebrook team will help the charity to continue saving lives across the North West. Since the beginning of the year, the lifesaving crew has already been called to 700 incidents in the Greater Manchester area.

Chris Wells, Community Fundraiser for Greater Manchester at NWAA, praised the team’s commitment: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at M&S Bolton Middlebrook, for choosing us as their charity of the year!

“The whole team has turned a passion into action, from the sponsored walk to raffles and even bag packing in-store – their support has helped to save lives across the North West!”
