Statement about the Royal Preston Hospital Helipad Upgrade

Published: 3rd July 2025

Due to essential building works at Royal Preston Hospital, the hospital’s usual Helicopter Landing Site (HLS) will be temporarily inaccessible from 7 July 2025 for an estimated period of 10 weeks.

During this time, our helicopter and crew will continue to provide critical care to patients, if they need taking to Royal Preston Hospital then a landing site has been made available at Fulwood Barracks, with patients then transferred by road.

This temporary arrangement ensures that patients in urgent need of specialist trauma care can continue to receive timely treatment without disruption.
