Could you complete the Fred Whitton Challenge?

The Saddleback Fred Whitton Challenge has become one of the UK’s most popular sportives. The charity event was created to honour Fred Whitton, an advocate for cycle sport in Cumbria and North Lancashire. Consisting of 113 miles around the Lake District, this is a difficult route that takes top rides just under six hours to complete, although anything over 11 is not unusual. Starting and finishing in Grasmere, the course covers all of the Lakeland passes, one with a 30% gradient.

How to get involved:

If you’d like to take part, click here to register with the event organisers. Participants must be aged 16 and over with entry costing £70, with a minimum fundraising target of £250. When registering choose to cycle for the North West Air Ambulance Charity and a member of our fundraising team will be in touch.

How we’ll support you:

As a member of Team NWAA, we promise to give you lots of support and encouragement along the way including:

  • A fantastic fundraising pack filled with hints, tips, and ideas to smash your target
  • A free NWAA t-shirt to wear with pride on the day
  • Cheer boards for your supporters!
  • Support from our events team with your fundraising, and a certificate at the end to thank you for helping us to keep flying to save lives!
